Puttur, Jan 6: Mohandas Paramahamsa swamy of Manila, Uppinangady blessed Dakshina Kannada Gau Abhayakshara Samarpana and Abahya Gau Yathre at Uppinangady on Friday January 5.
Speaking to the gathering, he said, “The minds of saints should be one and cattle should be protected through it. Ramachandrapura math has given us an opportunity through Abhayakshara with the determination that cattle should be protected and our love should be shown to it.”
“Our identity remains if cattle remain. The urine of cattle should reach mud if the fertility of soil should remain. The screams of cattle are the reason for present disastrous situation in coast. Everybody should vow to prevent it.”
Ramachandra Guruji of Kapilashrama, North Kashi in his message said that the urge for ban on cattle slaughter is not recent. “The movement has been carried out from Ramachandrapur math since the last two decades. All the people in the country should be determined to protect mother cow.”
Odiyuru Swamiji in his message said that the blood of cattle and people flows in the coast. “Everybody should join hands to prevent it. There should be a movement to protect cattle. Why didn’t the chief minister who has bestowed several ‘bhagyas’ to people not give the bhagya of protecting cattle?” he asked.
“The law for protecting cattle and ban on their slaughter should be passed in both the state and the union territory. Giving up blood for mother is the greatest sacrifice. Our entire lives should be offered to cattle. Everybody should come forward to rear at least one cow at home. Success of the movement for protection of cattle is assured. But our campaign should be patient and continuous. Mother cow should not only be the mother of the country but also of the world.”
Cattle rally convener’s committee’s Herambha Shastri, Jyothi Herambha Shastri, Uppinangady Havyaka zone president Kedla Ashok Bhat, secretary Sridhar Bhat, Mangaluru south zone president Ramesh Bhat Saravu, state Gau Pariwar’s Madhugomathi, Vinayaka Bhat Talavatta, Saranga Srinath, Shishir Hegde, Udayashanker Bhat and others were present.
A procession was held earlier from Gandhi Park to Sahasralingeshwara temple. Thousands of cattle lovers participated in the programme.
