Puttur, Dec 29: On the basis of a complaint filed by a minor girl, Uppinangady police have registered a case against a youth under the provisions of Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act. They have also arrested the accused.

The arrested man happens to be Narayan (30), resident of Kudradka, Machchina in Beltangady taluk. It is said that he befriended a minor girl from Pelappar, Ilanthila in the taluk. Reportedly, right from February last, he used to visit the girl often when her parents were away on work, escorted her to a nearby hillock and used to rape her there.

The arrested man was produced in court, whereupon he was remanded to judicial custody.
