Mangaluru, Dec 23: Father Muller College of Speech and Hearing, a Unit of Father Muller Charitable Institutions which began in 2007 has completed ten years of its useful existence and is celebrating the decennial year.
The college is accorded 12(B) status by the University Grant Commission. It runs a four year bachelor degree in Speech Language Pathology and Audiology. This is a matter of great pride for the entire institution. Receiving the UGC recognition enables the college to receive grants for research and outreach programmes. The college had also been a recipient of UGC 2(f) status.
The college has the latest equipment for diagnosis and treatment for speech, language and hearing disorders. It is also extensively engaged in outreach programmes for screening and community based rehabilitation. The college has received RCI Recognition for the year 2017-2020 with enhancement of seats. It is the only Speech & Hearing College under Mangalore University to receive permanent affiliation and second in India to get NAAC accreditation.
The students of the college are well equipped with clinical skills. Once they pass out as graduates, they are well placed all over the world.
The credit for this unique success, is on account of the foresightedness, dedication, readiness for innovation and change and sacrifices of the director Fr Richard Aloysius Coelho, chief of medical services, Dr B Sanjeev Rai, principal Prof Akhilesh P M, the management, staff and students of the college who are always ready to go an extra mile in attaining success and accreditation. The future plan of the college is to commence post-graduation in Audiology & Speech Language Pathology. The college has all the infrastructure and required facilities.
