Udupi, Dec 23: The district BJP members on Friday, December 22 staged a protest demanding justice to Dhanamma's family. The protest was held near town BJP office Kadiyali, here.
BJP leader, Baikady Suprasad Shetty addressing the protestors said, "Karnataka government should not show a carefree attitude. They must take strict action against these matters. Criminals involved in such activities must be punished and Karnataka government has to show keen interest on these matters. Portraying a careless manner may also be the reason for such incidents to occur.
"Also, the carefree attitude of the people has resulted in crime. Withdrawing crime cases is also one of the causes for the rise in crime. Karnataka government is creating an environment which indirectly helps in increasing crime rate. Dhanamma a minor, innocent school going girl, was brutally killed in Vijayanagar. The entire society should be ashamed of this. The Karnataka government must take strict and proper action. BJP will surely fight against this issue.
"In the Ramayana, Sita was kidnapped by Ravana who was soon killed. In the Mahabharata, Draupadi was abused by Kaurava and then destroyed. They were killed for their sin. BJP will always be in support of dharma and fight against injustices in society. Relation, feelings and justice must always be our priority and we should respect this. Hence Karnataka government and the police must take the right decision and punish the criminals. Karnataka government must help the girl’s family by giving Rs 25 lac.
Geethanjali Suvarna, Sheela K Shetty, Naveen Kutyar, Shyamala Kundar and others were present.
