Mangaluru, Dec 22: Catholic Sabha Ashoknagar unit organised Christmas ‘Sawharda Sambrama’ at Urva Store open ground.
The programme began with a prayer song and welcome dance. The birth of Jesus was presented on the stage.
Various religious heads were invited for the celebration. On behalf of Hindus, Bramhakumari Vishveswari spoke stressing the importance on peace of mind and meditation with special reference to the message of peace that Jesus brought to earth during his birth.
Sri Rafiuddin Kudroli in his speech said, “Those who are speaking about religion in today’s world do nothing about religion at all. They are using the religion to create unrest in the society. True religious person is the one who knows the crust of the religion.”
Fr Leo Veigas said, “The gap between rich and poor is on constant increase. Jesus who was born in poverty helps us to realize poverty prevailing around in our country.”
Fr Praveen Montero presided over the function. Parish priest of St Dominic Church Fr Aquin Noronha, Catholic Sabha Ashoknagar unit president Noreen Pinto, secretary Reena Pereira, corporators Nagaveni and Radhakrishna and large number of well-wishers from all religions gathered for the programme.
