Udupi, Dec 22: A reunion of classmates of the 1984 BCom batch of Mahatma Gandhi Memorial College (MGM) College here was held on December 17. The classmates and friends who passed out in 1984 met for the first time after a long gap of 33 years.
It was a wonderful reunion which was attended by large numbers of former students. They were also blessed by the presence of the lecturers who had taught them. The reunion was a special event for many reasons - the 33 years time gap, the presence of the lecturers who had taught different subjects, the venue being the same college where the students had graduated from and the large number of participation which has created some sort of records in the college reunions.
The programme started at 8.30 am with lamp lighting and rendering of prayer. The lecturers blessed the students and recalled their experiences. They were very appreciative of the manner in which the reunion was conducted. Few students narrated their college and the reunion experiences. The singing of couple of Hindi songs by the Hindi lecturer added more flavor to the function.
Some of the participants displayed their talents by singing and reciting of the poems written by them. The classmates and friends were so happy to be photographed with their lecturers and many were of the opinion that this photograph is a treasure to be stored in their lifetime.
A power point presentation (PPT) on the large screen which depicted the nostalgic college life took the friends back to the 1980s. The participants were very happy to get reunited with their friends after a long gap of 33 years. The participants were of the opinion that this reunion was one-of-its-kind and was a good platform to get reconnected with their friends.
After enjoying a sumptuous lunch and participating in fun games thereafter the friends left the college with a heavy heart but a determination to be back as soon as possible.
