Shivamogga, Dec 18: In connection with the stabbing of a PU student at Gandhi Park here on December 15, the police have made two arrests.
The arrested accused have been identified as Habib Pasha (24), resident of M K K Road, and Rizwan (22), who is a construction worker, and fixes tiles.
Unknown persons had stabbed Shabarish with a knife on December 15 at Gandhi Park before escaping. The injured youngster happens to be a student of Akshara PU College. Exact reasons culminating in this attack are not yet known.
This incident had acquired communal overtones and BJP had held protests against the incident. A delegation of the party led by leader of the opposition in the legislative council, K S Eshwarappa, had met the district superintendent of police and pressurized him to hasten investigation and arrest the culprits.
Personnel of Kote police station had registered the case and made efforts to nab the culprits. The arrested accused, it is gathered, are identified with Popular Front of India organization. The police are looking for Nabiulla, resident of R M L Nagar here, who it is said, happens to be the main accused. The police guess personal enmity would have been the reason for this attack.
