Mangaluru, Dec 15: Several programmes have been conceived in the city to celebrate completion of 60 years of age by well-known dramatist, actor, director, and former president of Konkani Sahitya Academy, Kasargod Chinna.
Kasargod Chinna has contributed immensely to the sector of amateur theatre in coastal Karnataka by directing plays, creating excellent roles, and acting in several plays, by building several troupes of artistes like Apoorva Kalavidaru, Gadinada Kalavidaru, Natana Kasargod, Abhivyakta Mangaluru, Rangachinnari Kasargod etc.
After passing out from Adarsha Film and TV Institute Bengaluru with gold medal, Chinna acted in over 20 films and rose to fame. He organized state level conference, worked as president of Karnataka Konkani Sahitya Academy and succeeded in introducing excellent programmes like 'Ghar Ghar Konkani'. He translated a number of Kannada, Tulu and Konkani works to other one another's language and won awards of Kerala Sangeeta Nataka Academy, Karnataka Nataka Academy, and Karnataka Konani Sahitya Academy.
As Kasargod Chinna is about to cross the threshold of 60 years of age, a forum of his fans has been formed in the city. A programme is being organized on December 12 afternoon where a congratulatory book, 'Chinna-Chittara' will be dedicated, symposium will be held, opportunity to have interaction with Chinna will be provided, and a musical programme of songs of plays in which Chinna acted and film songs will be held in addition to felicitation programme.
Earlier to this programme, on December 22, 23, and 24 respectively, film in which Kasargod acted, 'Asphota', Konkani movie directed by him, 'Ujwadu', and Tulu film he had acted in, 'Bangar Patler', will be screened at Big Cinemas in the city.
The congratulatory programme will be attended by minister and theatre personality, Umashree, Prof B A Vivek Rai, Dr Na Da Shetty, P Dayanand Pai, Pradeep Pai, T S Nagabharana, Girish Kasaravalli, P Sheshadri, V Manohar, Gurukiran, Sundar Raj, Shivadhwaj and others. The organizers, addressing a press conference in the city on Friday December 15, said that they expect fans of Chinna and the art to attend the programme in large numbers.
Dr Na Da Shetty gave details of the programmes at a press conference held here in which Roy Castelino, Venu Sharma and Smitha Shenoy were present.
