Honnavar, Dec 14: "I do not have faith in the government as well as the police department. Both are trying to close the murder case of my son. That is why the case should be handed over to Crime Bureau of Investigation (CBI) or National Investigation Agency (NIA)," said Kamalakar Mesta, father of Paresh Mesta, who died under mysterious circumstances in the recent Honnavar clashes.
He was speaking at a press conference on Wednesday, December 13.
Continuing his grievance, he said, "My son Paresh is not a member of any political party. Certain Muslims have killed him. Justice should be done. If we do not get justice, the whole family will commit suicide. My son knew swimming. It is impossible that he will drown in the pond. If we do not get justice, we will fight for the same with the support from people of Honnavar."
Leaders of the fishermen who were present on the occasion vented their anger by saying, "Why Azad and Imtiyaz, who roamed with deadly weapons, were not arrested on the same day? Kumaraswamy, circle police inspector, who showed dereliction of duty should be suspended. It is possible to arrest the accused within 24 hours if the police are willing. Instead, the police have arrested innocent people."
Tukaram Naik, member of taluk panchayat, Lokesh Mesta, Umesh Mesta, Shivraj Mesta, Raghu Pai and H R Ganesh were present at the press conference.
