Puttur, Dec 13: A person facing charges of raping a minor three years back, won over the confidence of the victim by reportedly telling her that the matter needs to be discussed with the police officer at the police station. After he offered her water to drink, the lady fell seriously ill and therefore stands hospitalized. It is learnt that she is in comatose now.
Nagesh (22) residing in Badiyadka House in Kaukrady village happens to be the accused in this case. In 2014, he had allegedly raped the daughter of his aunt living nearby. As a result, the girl had become pregnant and given birth to a child. The case registered under Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act is still being heard by the court.
The girl, now 20 years old, works for a nursery at Kemmayi near the town. It is said Nagesh asked her over phone to come to Uppinangady as the case needs to be discussed with the new police officer posted at the station there. Once she reached there, he proposed to withdraw the case and get married. But the girl refused. He then offered her water from a bottle he was holding, to drink. The girl, who drank the water and returned to Kemmayi, began to suffer from signs like vomitting and acute stomach ache. She informed her employer about this fact after which he got her admitted into a hospital here. Although the doctors induced vomitting, the condition of the girl turned serious. She was shifted to Wenlock Hospital at Mangaluru for advanced treatment. Once there, she gave all the details of the incident to the police officers who met her and signed the statement.
Later, the lady slipped into coma. Uppinangady police, who have registered a fresh case, are searching for the accused.
