Mangaluru: Noble deed by White Doves, reunites another family

Mangaluru, Dec 12: White Doves, the well-known NGO which rehabilitates and takes care of the destitute, have reunited 137 destitute with their families all over India, Nepal and Bangladesh.

The recent being a young woman with three children found late night near the KSRTC bus stand having nowhere to go and with no money in hand. White Doves reached out to this family.

The woman said she was driven out from her village after her husband died of Tuberculosis. The older girl related her story saying since her mother has abandoned her and her brother and their father being in jail, she had no option but to take off with her aunt who was leaving the village Dammahalli in Haveri with her two children.

White Doves tried to contact the people in the village and were able to locate the husband of the woman who had presumed that his wife and two children were somewhere in the village. White Doves were pleased to know that the little girl’s father was also released from jail. White Doves reunited both the families within a matter of five months.

White Doves founder Corrine Rasquinha’s services to the society and the church was recognised by the Catholic Bishops Conference of India, New Delhi. She was recently awarded recognition by the CBCI Council for Women, New Delhi ‘Best Leader in Karnataka Region’, for her outstanding work in the uplift and empowerment of women in the church and society.

The recognition was awarded here in Mangaluru by the bishop of Managlore diocese Fr Dr Aloysius Paul D’Souza. A citation, shawl and a cheque of Rs 5,000 was handed over to Corrine Rasquinha.
