Udupi, Dec 12: "China has been posing lot of challenges to India in the fields of finance, culture and security. Although Buddha was born in India, Buddhism has highest followers in China. China is now trying to make Buddha into a 'made in China' product. In order to stymie the influence of Saranath and Bodh Gaya in India on Buddhism in that country, China is trying to project Lumbini in Nepal as the most sacred seat of that religion. It has been spending huge amount on this project," said national joint general secretary (organizing), BJP, B L Santhosh on Monday December 11.

He was speaking at a special lecture programme under the head, 'Understand China, Boycott Chinese Products' organized at Karanth Theme Park at Kota in the taluk on Monday December 11.

Santhosh said that Chinese exports account for 14 percent of the total exports of the world. Its exports include small glass bangles used for Gouri festival too, he stated. "By becoming friendly with other countries in the neighbourhood, China has been ganging them up against India. China is behind naxal activities here," he stated.

Santhosh insisted that every month two hours should be set aside by people to think about China and all Chinese products should be thrown out of homes. "By knowing more and more about China and boycotting its products, we can pave the way for our country's development," he insisted.

The programme was inaugurated by Anand C Kunder, working president of Kota Shivaram Karanth Huttoora Prashasthi Foundation. President of Kota Bhagat Singh Yuva Vedike, Prasad Billava, presided. MLC, Kota Srinivas Poojary and others were present. A Yakshagana episode, 'Chandravali Vilasa' was presented thereafter by the artistes of Perdoor Mela.
