Mangaluru: Safwan abduction, murder - two more nabbed

Mangaluru, Dec 7: In connection with the abduction and murder of Safwan (22) from Katipalla second block near Suratkal, Suratkal police have succeeded in arresting two more accused. The men arrested now happen to be Dawood Naushad (35) and Mansoor (34), both from Chokkabettu near Suratkal.

Both of them were produced in court on Tuesday December 5, after which the court remanded them to police custody, duly upholding the request of police officers. In the past, the police had arrested Muhammed Faizal Ibrahim Sheikh alias Toppi Faizal (36), resident of Poopady Kallu, Moodbidri and Sahil Ismail (22) from Krishnapura Pammies compound. These two were arrested from Mumbai. Another person, Khader Safa, was arrested from Bengaluru for helping the accused.

With the current arrests, the total number of persons taken into custody so far in this case has risen to five. Some more, including Safwan Hussain of Target Group, who is said to be the main accused, are yet to be arrested in this case.

Safwan had been kidnapped from Kukkady Junction in Krishnapura on October 5. He was murdered near Sacheripet, Karkala, after which his body was tossed away in Agumbe ghat region. On the basis of the information provided by the two persons who were initially arrested, some pieces of the body were retrieved from Agumbe ghat area by the police and sent for forensic tests.
