Mangaluru, Dec 5: The influence of Ockhi cyclonic storm has almost phased out and the term of high alert ended on Monday midnight. Still, Coast Guard and fire brigades have been kept in readiness to meet any eventuality.

The Cylone Warning Centre at Chennai said that the cylone has changed its course and that it is moving northward from the sea and is expected to move over south Gujarat and north Maharashtra by December 5 midnight. During this period, the sea will remain rough in states like Kerala, Karnataka, Goa, Maharashtra, Gujarat etc.

Sea near Mogaveerapatna, Kaiko, Killeriyanagar, Mukkacheri, Subashnagar etc receded 20 feet backward and people have returned to their houses. At the same time, people are unhappy at the slow pace of building of protective wall at Uchila Peribail against the surging sea.

There is information that mini ship, Javagiri, which had left from here for Kavaratti in Lakshadweep, is floating in the sea uncontrolled and all the eight crew members who were facing grave danger, have been rescued by the navy personnel.
