Mangaluru, Dec 5: Jomel Bondel, Roshu Bajpe and John Suntikoppa have bagged the top prizes at the Poetics Kavitha Spordo - 2017’ competition conducted by Poetics WhatsApp group.
‘Martelyachi prai’ poem by Jomel Bondel has won the first prize of Rs 5,000. ‘Theenth and Ragath’ poem by Roshu Bajpe has won the second prize of Rs 3,000 and ‘Modya Tapasni’ poem by John Suntikoppa has bagged the third prize of Rs 2,000.
Steven Quadros Permude and Rohan Adkabare will be given consolation prizes of Rs 1,000 each for their poems ‘Zainathelli utran’ and ‘Atyachar’ poems respectively.
Though the competition was held by Poetics group, it was open to all. Identifying the talents of new writers was the aim of the competition.
“Nearly sixty people took part in the competitions and made it a success,” informed Poetics administrator and editor Wilson Kateel. He further said that a poet’s jam session will be held that will bring those who took part in the competition closer.
Kavita Trust founder and kaviaa.com editor Melvyn Rodrigues, poet Andrew L D’ Cunha and critic and Kittall editor H M Pernal were the judges.
The prizes will be presented during the release of ‘Arso special issue’, said Wilson Kateel.
