Udupi, Dec 3: District Small Industries Association (DSIA) celebrated its silver jubilee here on Saturday, December 2.
Dinakar Babu, president, zilla panchayat was the chief guest for the event. Addressing the gathering he said, “Small scale industries have helped many youths to lead their life. I have experienced this personally. Industrial Expo 2017 should be a model to our young generation to start their own business.
Narasimha Murthy, treasurer, KASIA said, “KASIA has a history of 60 years. It has been established to implement industrial policies, and to protect interest of industrialists. People of Udupi and Dakshina Kannada have excelled in business. They have succeeded in business all over the world.”
Sathish Kamath, general manager, Syndicate Bank, assured to provide loans to small scale industrialists to expand their business, and to establish new industries. Past presidents of the association, who have worked hard for the association and senior members of the association were honoured during the event.
Sudheer Nayak, president, DSIA, Vasnth Kini, secretary, DSIA, Hrishikesh Hegde, treasurer, DSIA, Shankar Suvarna, chairman, exhibition committee, Jagadish Rao, co-chairman, members and well-wishers joined the celebrations.
DSIA was started in the year 1992. Primarily it was named as Manipal Small Scale Industries Association (MASIA). Vincent Pinto was instrumental in starting the association. Its aim during its formation was to provide basic facilities like road, water and land to industries in Shivalli Industrial Area, Manipal. At present, the association has 531 members.
