Karwar, Dec 1: In an incident which happened in the early hours of Thursday November 30 at Mundgod town in the district, an ATM machine was cut open and about Rs 32 lac kept inside was stolen. The said ATM, belonging to State Bank of India, was located at Ganigera Building on Yallapur road in Mundgod town.
The thieves succeeded in ripping the ATM open with a gas cutter. They robbed the entire cash found inside the machine. It is said that the bank people had placed Rs 32 lac inside the machine the previous evening.
The thieves who came in a car at around 3 am on Thursday, directly headed for the ATM. The fact that they parked the car in front of the ATM and went inside is recorded in the CCTV camera, but facial features of the thieves are not clearly visible. The camera inside the ATM is yet to be verified. Only then the police hope to find out who the robbers were who got richer by Rs 32 lac within minutes.
