Tumakuru, Dec 1: State level convention of minorities is being organized in the city on December 10 by JD(S). This was stated by JD(S) state chief general secretary, B M Farooq. He was addressing a press conference here on Thursday November 30.
"The convention will take place at the junior college ground here. About two and half lac people from all over the state are expected to come together for the programme. The convention will be held on a grand scale," he stated. He said that his party has plans to organize conventions at various places in the state for gaining in strength, as the people are fed up with the divide and rule tactics employed by the other two major political parties towards minorities.
Farooq said that a regional party is the need of the hour, duly pointing out that Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh are under the rule of such parties. As Congress and BJP concentrated in plundering the wealth of the state during their rule, he said, people are not looking up to his party for relief from atrocities on minorities and problems faced by farmers.
JD(S) state minorities unit president, Syed Mohid Altaf, MLAs, D Nagarajaiah, Suresj Babu and Srinivas, MLC, Bemel Shantaraj and some others were present at the press conference.
