Kudnapur, Jul 5: It may be recalled that Kalamma Achari (65), mother of Subraya Achari, had filed a private complaint in Kundapur court alleging that her son was murdered by the policemen from Sorab police station, and had not jumped into a well while they were chasing him, as claimed. Pursuant to a direction from the court, a case against four police personnel from Sorab police station was registered at Shankarnarayana police station, under section 302 of Criminal Procedure Code.
Shimoga district superintendent of police S Murugan who suspended the policemen in question has also ordered an inqury into the failure of the policemen in producing the accused in a court of law after arresting him. Murugan visited the spot in Kundapur taluk where the self-styled godman reportedly jumped into a well and ended his life.
Kalamma Achari in her complaint had said, that the policemen had brought Achari duly bound by manacles around his wrists, to his home in moodlukatte in the afternoon of Thursday July 3. Kalamma said that her son had come to her home on the sixth of the previous month alongwith the girl in question and informed that he had married her in a Udupi temple. After that, the Sorab police raided my home several times and threatened me saying that they will not allow my son to be alive. She also said, that Aparna from Sorab, who is in the eye of thestorm, told her that Subraya was her husband.
She also said, that she would be able to idenify the policemen involved, if she is taken to Sorab.
