Bantwal, Oct 23: In a violent incident that took place in Ammermar, Pudu village, two youths were seriously injured following an assault by a group armed with deadly weapons. The victims, identified as Tasleem and Muhammad Shakeer, are currently undergoing treatment in the intensive care unit of a private hospital in Mangaluru.

The alleged attackers include locals Mansoor, Pulti Imran, Mustaq alias Mitcha, Sarpuddin, Ashraf, Rizwan, Safwan, Adnan, Nisaq, Yasir, Suhail, Zaheed, Sadiq, and Latif.

The altercation began when Tasleem received a phone call while conversing with Muhammad Shakeer, Nasir, Siyab, and Saifuddin. The caller allegedly abused Tasleem with vulgar language and challenged him to meet at a crossroads near the Ammermar school.

Upon arrival, Tasleem and his group were attacked by Mansoor and others. Pulti Imran reportedly struck Tasleem’s right leg with a sword, while another accused, Mustaq, slashed his right hand. Sarpuddin hit Tasleem with a stone, causing him to fall to the ground. Mansoor then reportedly attacked Tasleem's face. Muhammad Shakeer was similarly assaulted with a sword, and Ashraf, Rizwan, and Latif allegedly hit him with wooden sticks.

Both victims were seriously injured and admitted to a private hospital in Mangaluru, where Tasleem is receiving intensive care.

A case has been registered at the Bantwal rural police station, and an investigation is underway.
