Chitradurga, Nov 30: President of the zilla panchayat here, Saubhagya Basavarajan, stands expelled from the primary membership of the party by Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC). It found her guilty of anti-party activities and insubordination.
The expulsion order was issued on November 27. District Congress president, Fatya Rajan, released a copy of the KPCC order to the media here on Wednesday November 29.
Saubhagya had agreed in a meeting in which party top leaders had participated, during the period she was chosen as the zilla panchayat president, to vacate the seat after 15 months of her term. But later she had held on to her seat, even after the time limit expired. "Even after district leaders of the party and KPCC office bearers requested her, she refused to change her adamant stand not to resign. her action in rejecting the directions issued by the party leaders has been considered as anti-party activity," said general secretary of KPCC, V Y Ghorpade, in the said order.
