Udupi, Nov 29: The annual feast of Our Lady of Fatima Church, Perampalli was celebrated on Wednesday, November 29.
Fr Valerian Mendonca, chancellor of Udupi diocese was the main celebrant for the feast Mass. He said, “More than two million people visit Fatima every year. Many miracles have taken place here. This is the power of Mother Mary.”
In his homily, he said, “The feast is being celebrated here after seven years. Mother Mary has helped us to build this church. She cares for her children and hence appeared before certain people. In her appearance in Fatima, she was concerned about the killing of people in the First World War. Through Jacintha, Lucy and Francis, she gave her message to the world.”
Fr Joquem D’souza, Capuchin conducted the Vesper prayer service on November 28. In his homily he said, “This church building is a place of love. Saul became St Paul with the help of the Word of God. Word of God has helped many choose their path. Mother Mary became strong with the help of Word of God. Word of God helps us increase our faith.”
Fr Romeo, parish priest of Perampalli church in his concluding speech thanked all the parishioners for their help in constructing the church. Jossey Jessy Pinto and family were the patrons for the annual feast.
A relic of Our Lady of Fatima was kept for public to pay respects and pray.
Fr Reginald Pinto, resident priest of Perampalli church, Fr Alban D’Souza, parish priest of Kalmady, Fr Ronson D’Souza, parish priest of Katapady, Fr Denis D’Sa and other priests of the diocese participated in Vesper and feast celebrations.
