Udupi, Nov 29: In the case relating to the murder of NRI entrepreneur from here, Bhaskar Shetty, the district and sessions court here posted the hearing of this case to December 23. The court took this decision as additional charge sheet was yet to be filed in the case.
The three main accused in the case, Rajeshwari Shetty (51), wife of Bhaskar Shetty, son, Navneet Shetty (21) and astrologer, Niranjan Bhat (26) are currently lodged in the central prison at Parappana Agrahara, Bengaluru. Judge of the court here, Venkatesh Nayak, conducted the hearing through video conferencing facility on Tuesday and then ordered adjournment as above. District public prosecutor, Shanti Bai and advocate for the defendants, Arun Bangera, were present.
When the charge sheet was presented to the accused on October 23, they had denied the charges. Therefore, the hearing date was fixed as November 28. As additional charge sheet was found to be not having been filed, arguments could not be placed. Advocate for the defendants, Arun Bangera, had requested the court not to fix a date for trial in the case.
All the three accused had been shifted to Shivamogga district prison after Navneet Shetty and Niranjan Bhat came under attack from fellow prisoners while in Mangaluru prison. Later, because of perception of life threat, they were shifted to the central prison at Bengaluru.
