Udupi, Jul 4: Help is on the way for the people living far away from Bangalore and desirous of getting passports, as the union ministry of foreign affairs has set up district passport cells in the offices of the superintendents of police of every district. This is being done to obviate the need for the people to approach the regional passport office at Bangalore for their need at considerable expense and trouble.

The applicants can hereafter submit their passport applications directly to these cells. This will enable  easy and early completion of the police verification requirement too.

The applications received are immediately forwarded to Bangalore by this cell. As the system is computerized, current standing of the application can be followed through the internet by the applicants. District passport cells also provide information needed for proper filling up of forms etc., a release said.
