Bengaluru: Interreligious Christmas celebration to be held on Dec 2

Bengaluru, Nov 27: Commissions for SCC, ecumenism, interreligious dialogues will be organizing an interreligious Christmas celebration comprising of all religions and Christian denominations on December 2 at 3pm at St Joseph's Indian High School grounds, near Mallya Hospital, here will come together. It will be held to promote unity, peace and harmony among all religions and harmony with everything that exists in this universe.

Fr George Vincent Lobo, Karnataka Regional Secretary said at a press meet, "Due to a religion centric approach there is so much of enmity and hatred existing in society. A religion centric attitude makes one a fundamentalist."

"Fundamentalism leads to hate others who do not belong to that religion or do not follow the norms of that religion.

"A person centric approach makes one to love all. God wants everybody to love each other. Mother Theresa, Jesus, Buddha, Gandhiji and founders of all religions always had a person centric approach. That is why they could love all.

"Due to religion we see people fighting, killing, destroying. If this continues, there will be a day when no human being will remain on this earth. If no human being remains, then what can anyone do with their religion? So, a human being is superior to religion. Humans need to be saved and God given this universe rather than religion. We need to love all. A human being is superior to religion. Jesus says, 'Sabbath is for man and not man for Sabbath. He lived it'.

"Religion should never be a hurdle to relate to others and that is how we can have many friends from all religions. It will never be difficult to appreciate any religion. We must consider a person more important, than anything. Spending time with a person specially with children gives tremendous joy. Any programme or activity must always have a person centric approach.

"Due to this kind of attitude unity, peace and harmony can be maintained amongst all. Hatred is turned into love.

"The present programme can break every barrier. It can defuse poison that exists in the society.

"People of goodwill are happy to be part of this movement. I humbly request all everyone to join hands in striving for universal harmony. Let us make this programme a success and defeat all evils that exist in society. Let us make this God given home (universe), a happy home."
