Udupi: Diocese to hold annual Eucharistic procession

Udupi, Nov 25: The diocese of Udupi will organize the annual Eucharistic procession at Milagres Cathedral, Kallianpur on November 26.

In a press release, Fr Denis D’Sa, PRO of the diocese said that the celebration would begin at 3 pm with the Divine Mercy Rosary at 3 pm followed by a solemn Eucharistic celebration presided over by the Bishop of Udupi Dr Gerald Isaac Lobo. More than 50 priests will be concelebrating with him. The Eucharistic celebration would be followed by the Eucharistic procession from Milagres Cathedral to Mount Rosary Church, Santhekatte, Kallianpur. The procession would culminate with the consecration and final blessing. Around 5000 people are expected to gather for the celebration.

November 26 also marks the feast of Christ the King, celebrated in the churches all over the world. It is customary to have this Eucharistic procession in the churches universally.

“The purpose of this procession is to express our faith in Lord Jesus present in the Holy Eucharist, to renew our devotion towards the sacrament of Holy Eucharist, to rededicate and recommit ourselves to the humanitarian works that our Lord Jesus did when he was in this world, to express the solidarity and brotherhood of all the Catholic faithful and to seek blessings of Lord Jesus on all the people living in and around Kallianpur so that we promote peace and harmony,” added the press release.
