Haveri, Nov 23: A pregnant woman who was into labour, was declared dead by the doctors of a hospital at Ranebennur after her delivery. However, when preparations were being made for her funeral, she suddenly opened her eyes. However, the joy of her family members was short-lived, as she breathed her last again whilst being taken to hospital by her relatives.
This surprising incident happened at Devaragudda village in the taluk. The deceased woman has been identified as Nagamma Yamanappa Kodera (25).
Nagamme was going through labour. Therefore, she was taken to the primary health centre at Devaragudda where she was admitted. After she delivered a baby, Nagamma experienced high blood pressure and thereafter she was shifted to the maternity hospital at Ranebennur. Family members allege that the doctors there declared Nagamma dead without conducting detailed checks.
The grieving family was preparing for Nagamma's funeral when all of a sudden she opened her eyes, it is said. The relatives immediately made arrangements to rush her back to Ranebennur, but she breathed her last whilst being taken inside the hospital, her relatives claimed.
The family members have accused doctors at the maternity hospital of negligence. They insist that callousness on the part of the doctors there, cost Nagamma her life and demanded action against the doctors at fault.
