Mangaluru: Sisters of Poor Clares of Perpetual Adoration to celebrate silver jubilee on Nov 22

Mangaluru, Nov 21: The convent of the Poor Clares of Perpetual Adoration (PCPA), Milagres, Mangaluru will celebrate its silver jubilee on November 22.

The details about the silver jubilee celebrations were announced by Fr Paul Melwyn D'Souza, head of St Ann’s Fairy Bejai and Sr Rita Vas, provincial Superior, Ursuline Franciscan Congregation Mangaluru and Mother Mary Stella, superior of Adoration Ministry in a press meet held at Adoration Ministry, Milagres on Monday, November 20.

To mark the occasion, adoration from 9 am to 5 pm will be organized. Thereafter Dr Aloysius Paul D Souza, bishop of Mangaluru and Dr Francis Serrao SJ, bishop of Shimoga will celebrate the Holy Mass.

The logo of jubilee year and a documentary on Adoration Ministry of Milagres was unveiled on the occasion.

The sisters of Poor Clares of Perpetual Adoration are staying a few yards away from the Milagres Church on the other side of the Falnir Road.

This convent was established in the year 1992 and is located in the heart of the city. It is also considered as a powerhouse of prayer in Mangaluru.

Eight sisters are there in the monastery at present.

Poor Clares of Perpetual Adoration are cloistered contemplatives belonging to the 2nd Order of St Francis of Assisi, founded by St Clare of Assisi. About 14,000 Poor Clares are in the service of the Church all over the world.

There are 14 cloistered monasteries in India and 250 sisters are members of this congregation in India. Out of that, 25 sisters are from Mangaluru.

I write this mail on behalf of my Dad, Mr. Lawrence D'SOUZA, aged 91, who has been an ardent devotee and has been a well wisher of your pious institute. He has been regularly corresponding with you and your congregation for prayers and petitions. He is presently unwell and unable to walk. Following 2 week of hospitalisation for chest congestion, Gods grace that he was tested NEGATIVE for Covid... He is now at home, however, on oxygen support. I request you to kindly pray that he recovers and he finds comfort and peace as he recuperates. May God look upon him with his compassion and may the Holy Spirit overflow his Divine Mercies upon him and flush out all the toxins and negative things that may be causing hindrance to his recovery. I pray may all his parameters be normal and that his lung congestion becomes clear so that he is able to breathe with external oxygen support. I pray that he does not give up hope but fight back the illness with determination, placing his trust in God. We place all our trust in Jesus, our mighty Healer and Saviour. He has been a God fearing person, a faithful husband and a loving Dad and has inculcated good Christian values in us. May Jesus touch him and heal him of body, mind and soul. Also that Jesus grants him all his hearts desires. I earnestly request you to kindly pray for him and all his intentions. Also requesting prayers fory mother who is 75+ .as she is anxious about dads condition. Also pray for my mother who is anxious about Papa.
