Puttur: Borewell iron rod falls on labourer, causes death

Puttur, Nov 20: A labourer involved in the sinking of a borewell died after an iron rod used for borewells rolled and fell directly on him. This tragic incident happened on Sunday November 19 at Navoor in Kaniyoor village in the taluk.

The deceased was Sathish (19), son of Bisal Singh from Mugur village near Katholi in Kondagaon taluk, Chhattisgarh. When rigging for the borewell was on, borewell rods were being unloaded from the truck when an iron rod accidentally slipped and directly fell on Sathish, who suffered critical injuries in the bargain.

Sathish, who was in critical state, died when being taken to the hospital in the town, it is gathered. Police personnel have registered a case.

    very sad incident.He was just 19years old.Who can answer to his death?does his employer pay any compansation to such accidents?In India I think such employees are not insured suppose any accidents happen during the work.I think gOvt must think of it and bring a law atleast these poor paid employees family could have some money later.Employer must take responsibility of avoiding risk during the work.May his soul rest in peace.Heartfelt sympathys to his family.
