Udupi, Nov 18: Chief Minister (CM) Siddaramaiah will be visiting Udupi for the fifth time after he has become the CM of the state. However, it is surprising that he has not visited the world-renowned Shri Krishna temple so far.
CM will be inaugurating the 200-bed new building of government hospital for women and children on November 19 here. Shri Krishna Math authorities have shown no interest in calling him this time.
Siddaramaiah was invited to the Math on four previous occasions, including the ceremony of Sri Vishweshateertha Swamiji of Pejawar Math ascending the Paryaya Sarvajna Peetha, which took place on January 18, 2016 by the Math authorities. However, he did not visit the temple.
When questioned on whether CM has been given the invitation to visit the Math this time, Pejawar Swamiji said, "We have invited the CM to visit the temple on four previous occasions. If one desires not to visit what can we do? This time we have not taken the interest to invite him,”
"If he has any wrong notions about Shri Krishna Math, Kanaka Gopura or Pankti Bheda, truth can be discovered by mutual talks. Is Pankti Bheda not followed in the temples that are under the administration of the department of Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowments?" Swamiji added.
When Siddaramaiah was questioned six months ago, about his visit to the Math, when he had come to visit Barkur Mahasamsthana, he had replied saying, "I will visit the Math when the time comes. I am not an atheist. I believe in seeing God within myself."
