Udupi, Nov 17: Ahead of the inaugural and blessings ceremony of the new church, Dr Gerald Issac Lobo, Bishop, diocese of Udupi blessed the statues of saints, brought from 13 different wards of Our Lady of Fatima Church, Perampally on Friday November 17.
During the blessing ceremony, bishop also blessed church articles used for the holy Eucharistic celebrations.
The statues of these saints were brought with great devotions from various wards of the church.
Speaking to the gathering, Bishop said, “These saints lived their life according to the word of God and followed His footprints and reached their heavenly abode. They were humans like us and we have to follow their footprint and should lead a righteous life. And one day, we may also become like saints.”
“We plead for intercession with these saints who take our intentions to God and ask his blessings upon us for them. They always pray for us with the heavenly God,” he said.
Fr Romeo Lewis, parish priest, Denis Furtado, vice president, parish pastoral council, Rosy Pinto, secretary, parish pastoral council, Jossy Pinto, convener of the inaugural committee and parishioners were present on the occasion.
The grand inauguration and blessings of the newly built church will be held on Thursday November 23 at 8.45 am.
