Beltangady, Nov 13: Dravidian University, an inter-state university of South India, situated at Kuppam, Chittoor district of Andhra Pradesh, has awarded T Krishnamurthy, principal of SDMRC (Shri Dharmasthala Manjunatheshwara Residential Pre-University College) a PhD degree.
He was awarded this title for his thesis titled 'Arecanut marketing: Problem and prospects – A case study of Dakshina Kannada district'. He did his study under the guidance of Dr A Jayakumar Shetty, dean of the department of economics, Sri Dharmasthala Manjunatheshwara (SDM) College, Ujire.
Prof Krishnamurthy has earlier served as dean of the department of economics, Sri Dharmasthala Manjunatheshwara (SDM) College, Ujire and also as officer of National Service Scheme (NSS) of the college and earned an award for best NSS officer of Mangalore University and Karnataka state. He has received state and national awards from International Jaycee (Junior Chamber International) for conducting more than 2000 training workshops on personality development.
He is the founder secretary of 'Samooha', a cultural organization in Beltangady taluk and has conducted various cultural programmes for the last 25 years.
