Mangaluru: Two women burglars held, jewellery worth Rs 2.46 lac recovered

Mangaluru, Nov 8: Mangaluru CCB police arrested two women who used to break into lonely houses in broad daylight in city and steal valuables from them.

Mangaluru CCB police had spread a net to nab thieves who were stealing valuables during the day. 

The arrested women have been identified as Parvathi (29), resident of Basavanagar house, Kunjathbail, Kavoor, Mangaluru and Jayalaxmi (27), resident of Ramanagar, Kunjathbail, Kavoor.

The women were wandering around, identifying lonely houses in the pretext of picking scrap, break the house locks and steal jewellery and valuables from these houses. 

They used to pledge the stolen gold in finance companies and live a carefree life. Gold weighing 91.230 grams has been recovered from them. The value of recovered gold is Rs 2,46,321. The houses from where the items are stolen are yet to be identified. 

A case of theft is pending against Parvathi and her husband in Mangaluru south police station. The suspects and the recovered jewellery are handed over to Panambur police station for further action.

The operation was conducted by CCB officer and staff under guidance from Hanumantaraya, DCP law and order and Uma Prashanth, DCP of crime and traffic division under orders from Police commissioner T R Suresh.
