Bengaluru, Oct 30: The Kempegowda International Airport Limited (KGIAL) has recorded an impressive traffic growth of 11.7 % in the first half of the fiscal 2017-18.
Announcing the half-yearly traffic figures that highlight the impressive traffic growth in the first half of the fiscal year 2017-18, KGIAL said it served 12.39 million passengers and recorded a 11.7% growth in overall traffic.
The Domestic passenger traffic shows a growth of 13.3% compared with the previous year, while International passenger traffic grew at 3.6% compared with the same period.
Air Traffic Movements (ATMs), saw an increase of 2.9%, clocking 91,644 ATMs with an average of 501 ATMs per day. Average passenger movement per day clocked in at 67,700. The highest single day passenger traffic of 78,278 was recorded on May 19, 2017.
KGIAL, which is now in its ninth year of operation, saw a steady growth in cargo traffic as well, and has shown a substantial growth of 8.1% to reach a total volume of 173,010 metric tonnes (MT).
The Airport's continuous focus on customer experience – of airlines as well as passengers – resulted in new quality benchmarks, assured service levels and high reliability.
On-Time Performance (OTP) touched 86% it said.
With efficiency being the cornerstone of the Airport's operations, baggage delivery time excelled with the first bag delivered within 8 minutes of parking of the flight for domestic; and 10 minutes for international arrivals; the last bag was delivered within 16 minutes for domestic arrivals and 33 minutes for international arrivals.
