Mangaluru, Oct 30: In an accident which happened at Parari near Vamanjoor here on Sunday October 29, a youth lost his life. The accident occurred when a private bus hit a scooter. While the rider of the scooter, identified as Guruprasad Shetty (29), resident of Boliya site in Kuppepadavu, breathed his last, pillion rider, Jithesh Sanil (23) survived with serious injuries.
Guruprasad and Jitesh were returning to Kuppepadavu after buying equipment needed for wood work from the city, when the accident happened.
The bus in question was moving toward Moodbidri. When the driver of the bus made an attempt to overtake the scooter driven by Guruprasad, the bus brushed against the two-wheeler. The scooter fell down. Guruprasad, who suffered extensive injuries, died on the spot. Jithesh suffered a leg fracture. He was admitted into a private hospital where he is being treated. Some eyewitnesses said that the accident, which happened at around 6.15 am, was caused on account of thick fog that had enveloped the area then.
Guruprasad Shetty was the last of the five children of Vishwanath Shetty and the late Varija from Boliya Site. He was the only son of the couple. His mother had passed away last year. He used to work as conductor in a private bus and was the breadwinner of his family.
