Bengaluru, Oct 27: A marriage that was scheduled to be held at Hoskote near here on Thursday October 26 was cancelled at the last minute because of wrong choice of flower garland.
The marriage was to be held at Navakoti Narayana hall at Bheemakkanahalli, Hoskote. The groom was from Bheemapura in Hoskote taluk, while the girl was from Vijayapura. Reception had been organized in this connection on the night of Wednesday and marriage function was scheduled to be held between 5 and 6 am on Thursday.
It was agreed earlier, it is said, that the family of groom would present a garland made of jasmine flowers for being used to decorate the bride's plait. However, the groom's family presented a garland made of crossandra flower instead of jasmine, which angered the girl's family. When the girl's side objected to the change of flower, an argument ensued, at the end of which the family and relatives of the bride walked out in a huff.
Although the groom and his relatives pleaded with the bride's relatives not to take this extreme step for such a silly reason, the bride's entourage boarded their cars and left the venue, ignoring elaborate arrangements made for the marriage and food being cooked.
The groom's relatives immediately launched a frantic search for an alternative bride but failed to find one. As such, they had no other choice but to cancel the marriage.
