Bengaluru, Oct 26: Congress MLA, Anil Lad, who has been under the scanner of Central Bureau of Investigation for his alleged involvement with illegal ore tansportation, succeeded in getting a temporary waiver of bail condition through the state high court to facilitate his visit to China.
The court had, when granting bail to Lad, stipulated the condition that he should not leave the country during the period of bail. Lad has been accused of illegal ore transportation and export from Belekeri port. Lad had applied for temporary exemption from the terms as he has to visit China. The petition came up for hearing in the single judge bench of the high court presided over by Justice R B Budhihal on Wednesday October 25.
Advocate for the petitioner, Hashmat Pasha, argued that the petitioner, who is an entrepreneur, needs to visit China relating to his business. He noted that when granting bail to him, the high court had asked him not to go out of the country. Saying that his client has been cooperating with the investigation he submitted that he has never violated any of the bail conditions. Therefore, he pleaded with the high court to grant permission to Lad to go to China.
Considering the facts placed before it, the high court gave permission to Lad to undertake China visit between October 25 and November 4. However, it instructed him to appear before the CBI special court on November 7 without fail.
