Bengaluru, Oct 26: In pursuance of the order issued by the Supreme Court, Karnataka criminal investigation department (CID) officials will be handing over all the files relating to the case to Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) officials at Chennai on Thursday October 26.
During last week, CID had received instructions from CBI head office at New Delhi to hand over the case to its regional office at Chennai. Higher officials have permitted CID to pool together all documents relating to the case and hand them over to CBI. The DySP who was in charge of the investigation began his journey to Chennai on Wednesday, CID sources said.
The CID officials who investigated the case, had filed 'B' report, duly giving clean chit to minister, K J George, as well as senior IPS officers, A M Prasad and Pranav Mohanty, against whom first information report was registered. Father of Ganapati, Kushalappa, had appealed against this finding in the Supreme Court. The Supreme Court, which examined the petition on September 5, had ordered for entrusting this case to CBI.
CBI regional office at Chennai is expected to register first information report against the minister and officials named above, based on the interview given to a local television channel by Ganapati before his death. Therefore, an application will be moved in the CBI court here for permission, following which investigation will progress.
