Udupi: Scrap shop gutted in fire mishap at Brahmavar

Udupi, Oct 26: A massive fire gutted a scrap shop, late night at Varamballi near national highway 66 in Brahmavar on Wednesday, October 25.

According to the sources, a spark from a high-tension electric wire caused the fire which passes on the scrap shop. Fortunately, no one was injured in the incident.

Three fire brigade vehicles arrived to the spot with more than 10 officials who were able to control the fire. All the goods in the scrap shop were completely destroyed. As it was a residential area, the fire brigade personnel ensured that the fire did not spread to other places.

A big crowd gathered outside the shop and the timely interference by the fire officials averted more possible damage.

It took more than two hours to extinguish the fire. Three tankers came to the spot, but there was only one pumping machine to pump water.

Brahmavar circle inspector and sub-inspector also arrived at the spot soon after the incident.

The owner, Mohammed Shameer, has reportedly suffered loss up to Rs 2-3 lac in the incident.
