Bantwal, Oct 22: A person was seriously assaulted and robbed of his jewellery and cash as part of honey trap at Vittal near here on Saturday, October 21.

Mohammed Hanif (32), from Vitlapadnooru, Parthipadi, is the victim of assault and robbery. He is working as the supervisor in a quarry in Moodbidri.

Hanif is staying in a rented house along with wife and children at Kudthamugeru, Kolnadu. He had come to know a girl through Facebook a few months ago. They were speaking to each other on the phone and chatting in the Facebook. The girl called Hanif at midnight on Saturday and said that she needs money as her mother is sick.

As agreed, she came with another girl to Mudipu and met Hanif there. She sent her friend with Hanif saying that she will follow in her two-wheeler.

Hanif went with the girl in his car. As they entered the house of Hanif at Kudthamugeru,, a group of six men came in a Tavera car and entered the house. They tied Hanif, seriously assaulted him, made the girl stand naked with Hanif, clicked their video and photos and demanded Rs 5 lac ransom from Hanif.

The men assaulted Hanif from 2 am to 4 am. As Hanif did not give the money, they decamped with seven sovereign gold, passport, watch and mobile phone from the cupboard and swift car of Hanif.

Hanif has complained about the incident to Vittal police station.

Police have registered a case and are investigating.
