Dharwad: Lingayat religion - Minister terms Pejawar Swamiji's advice unsolicited

Daijiworld Media Network - Dharwad (SP)

Dharwad, Oct 20: "We have full knowledge about Lingayat community. There is no need for Pejawar Swamiji to come out with statements relating to this issue repeatedly," said Karnataka minister for mines and geology, Vinay Kulkarni.

Addressing the media persons after releasing the poster of the proposed Lingayat rally at Hubballi on November 5, Kulkarni scoffed at the statements he said were being issued by Pejawar Swamiji unnecessarily about Lingayat community and creating confusion through his act. "We do not need his guidance. Veerashaiva is a community within Lingayats and it is not separate. Veerashaiva and Lingayat can never mean the same thing. Let those who advocate the name, 'Veerashaiva', show this word if it is recorded in their school records," he challenged.

Nijagunananda Swamiji of Bailoor Nishkalamantapa, speaking on the occasion, said that he has respect for Pejawar Swamiji but insisted that the Swamiji happens to be the spiritual head of a particular ideology and not of the entire religion. "There are several factors and reasons behind seeking separate religion status for Lingayat. Therefore, we do not need Pejawar Swamiji's guidance. Pejawar Swamiji, who claims to be advocating the truth, should provide truth about Ligayat religion and not create confusion. He should actively support demand for creation of Lingayat religion. Alternatively, he has the option of not meddling with this issue," he asserted.

I demand from the Government to grant Atheism the identity of a separate religion.
True, this religion has no god. But there have been other mainstream religions with no god.
But once the Government recognises atheism as a separate religion, it will be a minority religion.
So atheists can get all sorts of privileges. Once the privileges start flowing, I am sure the membership will increase.
Pejawar Swamy is welcome to make any comments about our religion. He is a good man.
PS: We recognise and respect good people from all religions.

In essence, Lingayats must convert Hindus. They Reject Bhagavadgita, no caste, creed, gender, or worldly possession discrimination. They talk with the a God and God does not talk to them. YES it's a different religion.

Let Lingayats form separate religion. Hindus will become minority and will be eligible for minority reservation at par with Christians and Muslims. And can be one of the beneficiary of minority appeasement followed by successive governments.....!

According to my limited knowledge, the destination is the same and that is to reach God. Religion is only a path. We cannot say our path is right until we reach our destination. We will know what is right only after reaching God.
    Then why worry
    Leave it to him.

    Gururaj sir,
i totally agree with your wisdomfull views..., however what is happening today in Hindustan is that the lust for political power prompted politicians to influence religion to suit & meet their object...,

It all begun when our honorable Bharat Ratna Shriman Late Rajiv Gandhi laid the Shilanyasa for Lord Ram Temple in Ayodya..., since then it began with a standard dialogue like - one accuse the other as Minority apeasement while the other projecting minority as threat to their existence..., while it is universally known truth that Hinduism withstood all kind of on onslaught...,

If Lingayath was made religion then how many sub castes go into that religion?
Not good for progress of India's future.

I feel Lingayath is only caste of Hindu religion. It cannot form religion by itself.

My community with a population of 30 lakhs worship our god in a different way compared to other community god since ages. We also demand separate religion for our community.
