Mangaluru, Oct 12: Chief whip of the ruling party in legislative council, Ivan D'Souza, said that he would be filing a defamation suit in the court here, seeking a compensation of Rs 300 crore from BJP backward classes morcha state president, B J Puttaswamy and two others for making false allegation of illegal denotification of land against state chief minister, Siddaramaiah.
"I have put together papers concerning denotification of six acres of land at Bengaluru. I am getting legal advice from experts in law. Within the next two to three days, I will file defamation suit against Puttaswamy, Go Madhusudan, and another BJP MLA," he said, addressing a press conference held here on Wednesday October 11.
D'Souza asserted that neither the chief minister, nor state government, had done anything wrong in this case. "The six acres of land in question had been denotified in 1978. As it was not utilized for the purpose for which it was meant, as per the orders of the Supreme Court, it was denotified. At the request of the land owner, MLA, Vasant Bangera, had requested the chief minister, to take action. The chief minister, made the note, 'verify and discuss' on the file. Officials have done everything as per law without transgressing rules. How could one say that the chief minister has erred?" he wondered.
Ivan said that Puttaswamy has been making false allegations against the state government once in three days. "They are destined to tell such lies as they are unable to find anything wrong with the government. Telling lies is a model BJP state president, Amit Shah, has owned. I will oppose this and continue my legal fight," he added. He explained that as it has been alleged that Bengaluru Development Authority has lost Rs 300 crore in the transaction, a compensation of like amount is being demanded.
He asked BJP leaders in general and Puttaswamy in particular to get rid of the habit o making baseless allegations not backed by any records, and desist from telling lies repeatedly.
