Mangaluru, Oct 11: “BJP is spreading false rumours. They will not come to power even in their dreams. We are confident about coming back to power.” Moily said in city on Wednesday, October 11 when queried about the alleged misuse of ACB in the state.
He was speaking after the press meet held at University College to brief about the sesquicentennial anniversary programmes of the college.
Earlier vice-chancellor of Mangalore University Prof K Byrappa gave details about the celebrations. “The committee for the sesquicentennial anniversary celebration of the University College has been formed,” he informed.
Preparation of renovation work of the University College is at full swing as the 150th year celebration of the college is round the corner. Several programmes have been lined up. For the smooth functioning of the programme, a committee has been formed which will be headed by former minister Veerappa Moily.” Prof Byrappa said.
“Post-graduation school of Finance and Analytics will be introduced in the college here. Open stage will be constructed behind the college which can also be used for indoor games. The construction work of classrooms in the first floor of Dayananda Pai building is in progress. A hall will also be constructed,” he added.
"Dr U R Ranganathan Library will be constructed, a long time dream of Veerappa Moily. The library will be completely digitalized. A proposal has been sent to the state government requesting to reconstruct the playground with green turf. A guest house will be constructed in the premises of the college and this will be helpful for the guest lecturers and resource person’s accommodation in the college. We are also planning to organise national level seminar merging with Konkani, Beary and other academies. During the inauguration of Ravindra Kala Bhavan, 'College Missaleni' souvenir and postal stamp will also be released. College alumnus Gurukiran will conduct a musical night. There will be a special performance from renowned artist Vilas Nayak to raise funds for the celebration,” concluded Byrappa.
Alter Veerappa Moily who spoke said, “We have lined up several short term and long programmes ahead of the 150th year celebration of the college. Rs 1.83 crore has been released for the construction of Ravindra Kala Bhavan which will be inaugurated by January or February, with state-of-the-art technology. The school of Finance and Analytics will be introduced and courses will commence during the next academic year. A delegation will meet the state government and request to sanction Rs 50 crore for the overall expenses. We will also renovate the library which has very precious books. I am confident that University College will be a world known school of excellence.”
‘No misuse of ACB, baseless allegations’
Moily said that the misuse of ACB is baseless. He opined that BJP is making allegations to come power, which is nothing less than day dreaming.
When asked about the allegations of chief minister Siddaramaiah de-notifying 13,000 lakes, he said, “Siddaramaiah has never de-notified 13,000 lakes as Prahlad Joshi has alleged in the parliament. There is no proof and the allegation is totally baseless.”
Speaking on his book ‘Bahubali’, Moily said, "My 700-page book, ‘Bahubali’ is ready. It will be sent for printing in December this year. The book will be released during Mahamasthabhisheka.”
