Bengaluru, Oct 11: Police have arrested a suspect relating to the murder of techie from Odisha. The arrest took place after the police fired at the suspect thrice. Two police personnel and the suspect have been injured.
Over a dispute of Rs 500, Pranoy Mishra, 28-year-old techie was stabbed to death on Taverekere Main Road early Monday morning.
Mishra a software engineer with Accenture, hailed from Odisha. At around 2.45 am he was riding to the house of his female friend, when his scooter brushed against a bike which was ridden by rowdy sheeters, Karthik and Arun.

Enraged that the mud guard of their bike was damaged, the duo demanded that Mishra pay Rs 500. But Mishra refused saying it was not his fault and rode away from the spot. This further angered the rowdies and they chased Mishra and blocked his path. Mishra lost balance and fell on the road. The rowdies punched him, stabbed him twice in the stomach and fled from the spot.
The residents who spotted Mishra informed the police and rushed him to the hospital. He was bleeding profusely and was declared brought dead.
The cops were able to crack the case with the help of CCTV footage. Three teams were formed to investigate the murder. The police examined the footage and got details of the bike the rowdies were driving through the registration number.
When contacted, the bike owner revealed that his bike was borrowed by his friends Karthik (24) and Arun on Sunday night.
The rowdies were traced near Huskur Gate and fled when they saw the cops. They were chased towards Chitnamangala. Arun who was on the bike fled and Karthik started throwing stones at the cops. When HSR Layout Sub-Inspector Ravi tried to arrest him, he attacked him with a dagger. Koramangala Inspector Manjunath and Madiwala Inspector Mallesh Bolethin shot Karthik on his leg. Inspector Manjunath also sustained minor injuries.
The cops and Karthik are being treated at St John’s hospital. The police are on a lookout for Arun.
