Mangaluru, Sep 25: Renowned UAE based global timber conglomerate Mohiudeen Wood Works Co LLC, as part of their corporate social responsibility programme, has partnered with Mangalore Flower City Foundation, a non-profit green initiative recognized by the Mangaluru City Corporation and Karnataka Forest Department, which aims to transform and beautify Mangaluru’s cityscape with a systematic and organized approach that will involve plating various flowering trees in city over a series of stages.
The foundation comprises of individuals from both government and private sectors who have joined forces with a common goal to transform Mangaluru and make it a model green city in India.
The foundation intends to actively engage the local community and implement a programme which will encourage Mangaloreans to take pride in their city. It will also create a grassroots movement and greater sense of conservation that is aimed at protecting and enhancing green belts within the city, which will ultimately enrich our society and improve the quality of urban life.
The foundation has already commenced planting flowering trees along main roads that crisscross the city. The first stage will encompass planting and nurturing about 2000 saplings that will be planted on both sides of the road from KPT Circle to Mangaluru international airport.
