Mangaluru, Sep 8: Dr M V Shetty College of Physiotherapy here on September 8 celebrated world Physiotherapy day at Dr M V Shetty College Seminar Hall at 9.30 am with a prayer song and lighting of the lamp. The theme the day was 'Physical Activity for life'.
Prof L Gladson Jose, principal, Dr M V Shetty College of Physiotherapy welcomed the gathering. In his address he said, "Dr M Ramgopal Shetty founder secretary of Dr M V Shetty Memorial Trust(R) started the College of Physiotherapy in the state. Trustees Prof Hima Urmila Shetty, Dr Divyanjali Shetty, Dr Ranjith Shetty and Dr Rohila Shetty are dedicated and service-minded people who serve the society."
The chief guest Dr Ranjit Shetty, trustee, Dr M V Shetty Memorial Trust said, "Research activities and publication in indexed journals only will help physiotherapy students to get recruitment in the current challenging world." He wished all, a happy World Physiotherapy Day. "Hard work which was rendered by Dr Ramgopal Shetty in framing the syllabus for physiotherapy was at a time when nobody knew about physiotherapy as a profession."
A newsletter titiled 'Glint' which flashes the events and activities of the college was released by Dr Ranjit Shetty.
The emdcee for the event was Dr Pratibha Mary Thomas. The theme of physiotherapy day was narrated by Dr Padmacharan Swain. Glimpse of Newsletter Glint was given by Dr Priya Rai. Vote of thanks was delivered by Dr Sanjeevani Rai. Dr Subash Srivastav presented a seminar on 'Geriatric Rehabilitation'. Dr Jayaganesh, Bharathi, Anuj Basnet, Cynthia Maria Sibi, Saugat, Europe Chand, Anjali and the rest of the physiotherapy staff and students were present. Sweets were distributed to all.
