Udupi, Sep 6: District Teachers’ Day celebration committee observed district-level Teachers’ Day 2017 in collaboration with Dr G Shankar Family Trust Ambalpady Udupi at Shamili auditorium here on Saturday September 5.
The programme commenced with invocation. Children also performed dance to a patriotic song. District in-charge minister Pramod Madhwaraj offered flowers onto the photo of Sarvapalli Radhakrishnan.
Speaking on the occasion, minister said, “Teachers are our strength of society. Teachers play a crucial role in educating students and making them to attain greater heights in life. They should teach moral lessons and life skills to students in schools.”
The G Shankar trust has been organizing the Teachers’ Day celebration from the last eight years. This is the first trust which is associated with government education institution. The trust is spending Rs 2 lac for this programme every year.
Minister Pramod Madhwaraj said, “Udupi district has achieved exceptionally in the field of education due to all dedicated teachers. At present, the responsibility of teachers have increased when compared to earlier demands.”
“Chief minister Siddaramaiah has recommended the seventh pay commission to increase retirement scale for all teachers. After getting approval from the government, the life of all teachers will improve.”
Speaking on the occasion, Udupi zilla panchayat president Dinakar Babu said, “Teachers play vital role in maintaining cleanliness in the surrounding.”
As many as 18 teachers were felicitated by the guests on the occasion for their dedicated service.
District-level best teachers award for government and aided school primary section were given to Shankar Shetty, Bharathi, G Hanumantha, Sanjeeva Devadiga and Sabhitha D.
District-level best teachers award in high school section were given to Prabhakar Shetty, Subba yane Subbanna Kone, K Sadananda Shetty, Somappa Thingalaya and Ganesha G.
Non-aided district-level best teacher’s awards went to Girish Bin Ganesh Ganiga, Colin D'Souza, Vidya V Kini, Govindaraju, Balasundara Amanna, A Shivarama, Usha Rao U, Kavitha, Raghavendra, Raghavendra and Prathibha Dayananda.
The following teachers were also rewarded for their dedicated works: Raghavendra Devadiga, Suryanarayana Upadhya, Narayana Murthy, Babu Shetty, Shrikanth Prabhu, Somappa Poojary, Aruba Kumary, Dr Kishore Kumar Shetty, Kumary Pavithra T, Sangeetha, Mallika Nayak, Ramachandra Bhat, Ramya V P, Usha Rao U, Shobha Pai, Vani K and Shilpa Kumary.
Nadoja Dr G Shankar, president, G Shankar Family trust, Udupi, Nalini Pradeep Rao, president, taluk panchayat Udupi, Mangala, president, primary education association, Shekhar, deputy director, public education department and others were present.
