Mangaluru, Sep 5: Students of Vikas PU College, on Tuesday, September 5, paid respect to their teachers on the occasion of Teachers Day.
Chief guest of the programme P Shantharam Mogral, rtd head of department of Chemistry department of St Aloysius College, Mangaluru, addressing the students and teachers, said, "Students must respect teachers as they respect their parents. Teachers should be role models for students. Students should find the positive values of their teachers and emulate them. Students should be convinced of their mistakes while disciplinary actions are taken against them."
On the auspicious occasion, P Shantharam Mogral was honoured by the college for his exceptional service as a teacher. Dr Asha Kumari, lecturer in Hindi, was also felicitated for obtaining PhD on the occasion.
Krishna J Palemar, chairman of Vikas Education Trust, mentioned that students should respect the teachers not only on September 5 but on all 365 days of the year. He also asserted that disciplined life is possible only if we inculcate it in school and college days.
Dr Shripathi Rao, correspondent, Dr Ananth Prabhu G, advisor, prof T Rajaram Rao, principal, Parthasarathy, coordinator and Vidya Kamath, administrator were present on the occasion.
Niharika, student of II PUC Science, welcomed the gathering and Anusha, student of II PUC Science, proposed the vote of thanks. Pratham M, student of II PUC Science, was the master of the ceremony. A variety of cultural programmes themed Teachers Day followed the formal function.
