Mangaluru, Sep 4: Condemning the incident where police allegedly showed 'disrespect' to Quran and 'tore' Madrasa books while conducting a search at the house of an accused in connection to the murder of RSS worker Sharath Madivala, United Muslim Organisation said that the incident had 'hurt the religious sentiments of the Muslim community'.

Addressing mediapersons here on Monday, September 4, president of the organization and former mayor K Ashraf said, "This act has hurt the entire Muslim community. We are not defending the accused, but we condemn the act of disrespecting the Quran and tearing Madrasa books.

"Police are biased in handling the investigation. In Ashraf Kalayi murder case, the conspirator was neither arrested nor was his house raided by the police. But in Sharath murder case, the police, despite already arresting the culprits have raided their residence. Even the conspirators of Kalladka stone pelting incident are roaming free.

"Kalandar’s family is co-operating with the police in the investigation. But the police are harassing them. We demand the suspension of three policemen, namely Bantwal SI Rakshith Gowda, Uppinangady SI Nandakumar and Puttur CI Mahesh Prasad for showing disrespect to the Quran during the raid. We are also planning to hold a massive protest on September 8 condemning this shameful incident," he added.

When queried about seeking clarification with SP Sudheer Kumar Reddy by watching the unedited video which was taken during the raid, Ashraf said, “No. We have not met SP Sudheer Kumar Reddy as we clarified about the incident with the family members and also checked the photographs which are being circulated. We have faith in the family members as they cannot lie regarding the holy book,” he stated.

When asked if he would clarify regarding the incident with SP Sudheer Kumar Reddy before calling for protest, Ashraf said, "The police should show the video in the presence of our members, family members and also local political leaders. If we are convinced with the video, we are ready to withdraw the protest and apologize."

Members of the organization Hameed Kudroli, Abdul Jaleel, Ashraf Kinara, Ismail Shafi and others were present.

However, soon after Kalandar's family made the allegations against the police of disrespecting the Quran, SP Sudheer Kumar Reddy denied the allegations and clarified that the police personnel in the search team did not touch any religious book. He also said that the police have video recording as proof. The video was also shown to media persons and it was found that the SP was right.

Regarding the photographs of the spot, purportedly showing Quran on the floor, he said that the police have enough evidence to prove that it was planted by mischief mongers to spark unnecessary tension and added that strict action would be taken against anyone who is found guilty of the act.

Nawaz Saab….there is no first or second points in this case…. This is simply trying to scare our Police Dept in the name of religion…. No one can disrespect any holy book just because stepping on it or tearing one page by mistake or intentionally …. Many people in Indian Court….take the oath by keeping their hand on holy book but when it comes to telling the truth no one said so till date nor the verdict has been given based on these holy book oaths!!! We feel bad when people don’t respect our holy book but what is the use by teaching religious sermons when that particular person doesn’t respect any religion nor fear for GOD??? We have faith in our GOD….so…live up to him for his wisdom!!!!

The entire Religious Dramas should be stopped if anyone want to stay in the country or else leave the country where you can perform Dramas. This goes to all the community not just to one community. I think the supreme court should pass a law to stop trouble in the name of religion.

Dear brother Ashraf and co,wish to say one thing.Kidly dont take this mischief of police not further.Of course it hurts immense.Police should say sorry ,for disrespecting and toring. But what about forgiving them for their indecent act.?Warn them suppose it happens second time, would be action from your side taken?Suspention of cops is not necessary. They have to feed their family too.keepit in mind.Dont make their family suffer.Allaha might certainly will be proud of you for forgiving .Dont take this issue further.Because it will later lead to religious politic. Both sides will be a clash later,so avoid it.we have enough dombarata in cow politic, caste politic, and congress ,BJP politic.Did I forget anymore?

I donot believe police will do such things. Please donot fabricate and mess peace around. It is always issues for no issues and then be comes human right issue. Currently world is burning with same issues everywhere and please donot make India another land of war. Forgive one another as brothers and sister like family and move on. Every religion has thought forgiveness. If forgiveness is not thought in any religion then it is not called religion of peace. Please love one another and live a happy life. God is loving and kind. Peace and happiness comes only when we forgive one another. Tit for tat will results in war like currently going on many places. People will suffer and nations will destroy. Learn from mistakes people.

This is the double role attitude by Police Dept. they never work for transparency justice they come under High level Political pressure
