Mangaluru: Pedestrian crossing road killed in accident involving motor bike

Mangaluru, Aug 31: After a woman was knocked down by a speeding motor bike near the check post at Mukka on national highway 66 on Wednesday August 30, the woman died on the spot.

The victim happened to be Varija (51) fron Konkanabail near Haleangady. She was crossing the highway when a motor bike that was moving towards Suratkal suddenly hit her hard. Varija fell to the road and suffered serious injuries in the head region. She lost her life on the spot.

Bike rider, identified as Gautam from Ullanje near Kinnigoly, suffered serious injuries on his hand and leg in the accident. He was admitted into a private hospital at Mukka where he is being treated now.

A case about the accident was registered in the city (north) traffic police station.

    Speeding kills. May the soul of the pedestrian RIP. People crossing highways should be very careful as some of the drivers and riders drive blindly without seeing what is ahead of them.
